UP man behind SBI heists evades police capture
Rajaram, a key suspect in several robberies of State Bank of India branches in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, managed to escape from police in Davanagere. The police were pursuing him near Nyamati when he got away. Rajaram is originally from Bachoura village in Uttar Pradesh and has been linked to at least four major bank heists. Authorities believe that Rajaram's gang operates by disguising themselves as street food vendors. They sell snacks like panipuri while they observe banks for potential targets. Special police teams are actively searching for him, as they suspect he was involved in a recent robbery at the Nyamati SBI branch. Despite ongoing investigations, no arrests have been made in the last six months. Law enforcement officials describe Rajaram as a dangerous criminal. He is now one of the most wanted men across five states, including Karnataka. A police spokesperson stated, "Our teams are working around the clock to track him down, and we will catch him soon." Police have noted that Rajaram and his crew are highly skilled in executing their crimes. They remove CCTV devices and use techniques to evade detection, such as spreading chili powder to confuse tracking dogs. They also take care to wear gloves to avoid leaving fingerprints. Before a robbery, this group closely observes their targets, gathering information about security and routines for about two months. They operate their street vending activities without raising suspicion. Communication among the criminals is discreet, avoiding mobile networks, which complicates police tracking efforts. Vijaykumar Santosh, an additional superintendent of police in Davanagere, emphasized their commitment to apprehending Rajaram, stating, "We will get details of the burglars once we secure him."
