Upper Ganga Canal Expressway project resumes after 11 years
The government has resumed work on the Upper Ganga Canal Expressway project. This project aims to improve travel and infrastructure between Noida, Greater Noida, and Dehradun. The completion deadline is now set for November 2025. Originally launched in 2013, the project was on hold for almost 11 years. The expressway will have eight lanes and is expected to enhance highway connectivity in the region. It will connect Greater Noida with Sanauta, Ghaziabad, and extend to Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, and Dehradun. The expressway will stretch for 147.8 kilometers, starting from the Sanauta bridge in Bulandshahr to Purkazi in Muzaffarnagar. The budget for the project is Rs 8,700 crore. Additionally, a 23.5 kilometer Link Expressway will connect South-West Meerut to Meerut Airport, improving local access. To support this initiative, land has been allocated at six key locations. The project is designed to strengthen logistics infrastructure, attract tourism, and enhance water sports facilities in the area.
