US Army to test new long-range missile tomorrow
The US Army is preparing to test a new long-range missile on Wednesday. This test will happen at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, starting at 10:30 AM ET. The Army hopes this new weapon will replace older missiles. The missile, called the Precision Strike Missile (PrSM), has already undergone several successful tests, including one in February. The new missiles are designed to be more accurate and effective, reaching targets over 300 miles away. Each missile costs about $3.5 million. This test comes as President Donald Trump expresses concerns about the risk of World War III due to the situation in Ukraine. He mentioned that if tensions escalate, US forces could become involved. Trump criticized the current approach to the conflict and emphasized the importance of resolving it. The new PrSM will replace the Army Tactical Missile System, used since 1991. It can be launched in pairs to improve hitting targets. Lockheed Martin, the manufacturer, has a contract to produce 400 of these missiles per year. Tensions continue globally as the Army also tests its HAWK missile system, which has been in use since 1959. This system aims to enhance air defense capabilities. While Trump is in talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, negotiations for peace have not yet succeeded. The situation remains tense, with ongoing support for Ukraine from European leaders. They are committed to helping Ukraine resist Russian aggression.
