US authorizes Ukraine to strike deep into Russia with new weapons policy
The United States has changed its policy, allowing Ukraine to use U.S.-made weapons for strikes inside Russia. This decision follows Russia's deployment of North Korean troops in Ukraine, raising concerns in Washington. Ukraine can now use ATACMS rockets, which can reach targets up to 190 miles away. This marks a significant shift after nearly 1,000 days of conflict, as the U.S. previously restricted Ukraine from striking deep into Russia. The U.S. had held off on supplying long-range weapons due to fears of escalation. However, the recent developments indicate a new phase in military support for Ukraine, aimed at disrupting Russian logistics and command structures.
