US criticizes Israel for inadequate aid improvements in Gaza ahead of deadline
The Biden administration has criticized Israel for failing to improve humanitarian conditions in Gaza ahead of a 30-day deadline. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller stated that Israel has not met key requirements for aid delivery, giving it a "fail" grade.
Currently, only 71 trucks of aid are entering Gaza daily, far below the 350 trucks required. The U.S. is also concerned about violence against Palestinians by extremist Jewish settlers in the West Bank and has called for accountability.
Additionally, the Israeli government has canceled an agreement with the U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees, which the U.S. opposes. The U.N. Secretary-General emphasized the necessity of the agency's work in the region.
