U.S. imposes new export controls on advanced chips to limit access for China
The U.S. has announced new export controls on advanced semiconductors to prevent technology from reaching China. This follows recent restrictions on AI chip exports and aims to strengthen oversight of companies to stop diversion to restricted entities. The U.S. Commerce Department has added 25 Chinese companies to a trade blacklist, limiting their access to U.S. technology. These companies are accused of supporting China's military modernization and advancing technologies that threaten U.S. national security. Additionally, the U.S. has finalized a rule to restrict Chinese technology in American cars, citing national security concerns. New restrictions on drones with technology from adversaries are also being considered.
