U.S. imposes visa restrictions for officials aiding Uyghur returns
The U.S. State Department has announced visa restrictions for foreign officials involved in the forced return of Uyghurs and other ethnic groups to China. This decision follows the return of 40 Uyghurs from Thailand to China on February 27. Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized the U.S. commitment to combat China's pressure on other nations to return these groups, citing ongoing human rights abuses in China. The Labor Department has labeled China's treatment of Uyghurs as genocide and crimes against humanity. Uyghurs in China face forced labor, oppressive working conditions, and limited communication with their families. They are also subjected to ideological indoctrination and forced to learn Mandarin while living under strict surveillance.
