She emphasized that the US is unlikely to give up its military position in the Asia-Pacific, especially in areas that China considers important. Sun noted that the situation in the South China Sea has remained tense for the past few years under the Biden administration. However, she stressed that there seems to be no intention from the US to lessen its influence or military presence in the region.
