US schedules record rugby matches for men's and women's teams
The United States is planning a busy rugby season from April to July. This schedule aims to boost interest in the sport as the country prepares to host the men’s and women’s Rugby World Cups in the future. In total, there will be six international matches, three for the men's team and three for the women's team. These games will happen over five weekends in four different cities. This initiative is organized by USA Rugby and World Rugby to increase fan engagement and attract commercial investments. The men's team, known as the Eagles, will face the Netherlands on July 5 and Spain on July 12 in North Carolina. Their final match will be against England in Washington, D.C. the following weekend. Meanwhile, the women's Eagles will play three games. Their first match will be against Japan in Los Angeles on April 26. They will also compete against Canada in Kansas City on May 2 and then take on Fiji in Washington, D.C. on July 19. In addition to these matches, the U.S. men's team will participate in the Pacific Nations Cup later this year, which includes other teams like Canada, Fiji, and Japan. This tournament will also take place in the United States in September.
