U.S. travelers still visit Manitoba despite trade tensions
Travel Manitoba reports that American visitors are continuing to come to the province, despite trade tensions with the U.S. Many Manitobans have chosen to stay local and avoid trips to the United States due to the ongoing trade war. American tourists are interested in Manitoba for unique activities. They come for world-class fishing and to see polar bears and beluga whales in their natural habitats. Colin Ferguson from Travel Manitoba highlights that the province offers some of the best opportunities to view the northern lights. As of now, there hasn’t been a decline in the number of American visitors. These travelers usually account for about four percent of all visitors and contribute around eight percent of tourism spending in Manitoba. American tourists often seek high-quality experiences, such as visiting Churchill, known as the polar bear capital of the world. The strategy is to encourage more Canadians to explore their own province. Travel Manitoba aims to attract more domestic travelers while still welcoming visitors from the U.S.
