Used Tesla sales surged in the UK in February
In February 2025, demand for used Teslas surged in the UK, despite a decline in new sales linked to Elon Musk's political views. This trend contrasts sharply with the reduced interest in new Tesla models in various countries. A report from Marketcheck UK showed that sales of pre-owned Teslas rose for the fourth month in a row, with 2,690 used Teslas sold in February. This is an increase of 1,423 compared to the same month last year. Alastair Campbell from Marketcheck UK noted that falling prices and a large supply from company fleets contributed to the growing interest in used Teslas. The Model 3 was the most popular among used buyers, with prices starting around £12,000. The Model Y also gained attention due to its spacious boot and impressive range of up to 353 miles per charge. While used sales thrived, new Tesla sales faced significant challenges. In Germany, new sales dropped by 76% to just 1,429 cars, and Italy saw a 55% decline. This shift hurt Tesla's stock prices, which fell 15% on March 10, 2025. To boost interest in new cars, Tesla plans to launch a redesigned Model Y. This version will feature a sleeker look with thinner headlights and a more modern interior, including heated and ventilated front seats. The starting price will drop by £2,000, and the range will improve slightly to 311 miles per charge.
