USPS and mail carriers reach tentative contract with pay raises and air-conditioned trucks
The U.S. Postal Service and mail carriers have reached a tentative contract covering 200,000 workers. The deal includes backdated pay raises, three annual increases of 1.3% by 2025, and a commitment to provide air-conditioned trucks. The agreement, which still needs union ratification, runs through November 2026. Mail carriers have been working under the old contract since it expired in May 2023. The Postal Service plans to modernize its fleet with new electric delivery vehicles, which include air-conditioning. The contract requires discussions with the union for any new trucks lacking this feature. Rural mail carriers are not included in this agreement.
