UST wins UAAP Season 87 Girls' Basketball Championship

Cebu City, Philippines — The University of Santo Tomas (UST) won the UAAP Season 87 Girls’ Basketball championship after defeating the National University Nazareth School (NUNS) 63-57 in the finals on Thursday. This victory marked a perfect season for UST. Zaydhen Rosano, a rookie player from NUNS, had a strong performance with a double-double. She scored 12 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, along with three steals and one assist. This was impressive, especially since Rosano missed the first game of the finals due to suspension. Despite Rosano’s contributions and the support from Aubrey Lapasaran, who scored 22 points, NUNS struggled late in the game. They went scoreless for the last 4:32, allowing UST to finish strong with an 11-0 run. Sandra Abrantes played a key role for UST, scoring nine points during the final moments. Her efforts helped UST take a commanding lead of 63-57 with just 17.2 seconds remaining. NUNS tried to catch up with three-point attempts from Lapasaran and Rosano, but both missed, sealing the championship for UST.
