Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh is making significant strides in providing clean drinking water to every household through the Jal Jeevan Mission. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak showcased these achievements at the TOI Water Summit. He discussed the theme of ensuring clean water and efficient management for the upcoming Maha Kumbh 2025. Pathak noted that there was a time when families relied on small tanks and buckets for water. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the initiative to make clean drinking water accessible to every home. Under this mission, Uttar Pradesh has become the top state in India for implementation. The Deputy Chief Minister shared impressive statistics. Water supply has been established in about 24,000 villages, and the state has provided 2.36 crore connections. Additionally, they have built over 37,000 pump houses and completed nearly 39,000 tube well installations. Pathak emphasized the importance of water supply for the Maha Kumbh. He stated that no infrastructure—like roads or lights—would be effective without sufficient water. The government, led by Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is committed to ensuring an adequate clean water supply for this significant event. He also called on the people of Uttar Pradesh to practice water conservation. "Saving water is equivalent to producing it," Pathak emphasized. He highlighted the state’s integration of renewable energy into the water supply, noting that many systems now operate on solar power for greater efficiency. Pathak ended his speech by thanking the TOI for its awareness initiatives and reaffirming the government’s dedication to water availability across the state. He also recognized the efforts of the Water Quality Testing Committee and other members who are working towards better water quality management.
