Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced plans for a new PM MITRA Park in Lucknow, aimed at boosting the state's textile industry. This project will create 50,000 jobs and attract more investment to the region. Adityanath spoke during an investor meet, highlighting Uttar Pradesh's large consumer market of 25 crore people. He pointed out that India should lead in ready-made garments, especially given its population of 140 crore. The new park will have training, designing, and packaging facilities to support the textile sector. The PM MITRA Park, part of a broader national initiative, will be built on 1,000 acres. The chief minister also distributed ₹210 crore in incentives to 80 investors as part of the state's Textile and Apparel Policy. Two memorandums of understanding worth ₹700 crore were signed for the park's development. The CM emphasized the significance of clothing and assured that the park will provide integrated services for all textile production stages. He added that 3,800 crore worth of investments have already been proposed, with over 1,000 MoUs signed that are expected to create thousands of jobs. Uttar Pradesh is known for its rich textile heritage, with regions famous for silk, carpets, and unique embroidery. The state plans to build ten new textile parks and two leather parks to further support these traditional industries. The PM MITRA Park will follow a production model known as the 5F model: Farm to Fiber, Fiber to Factory, Factory to Fashion, and Fashion to Foreign. This will streamline the process from production to export. Adityanath highlighted the state's strong infrastructure and connectivity, which are attractive to investors. Uttar Pradesh is currently India's second-largest economy and aims to become a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2029. The state contributes significantly to India’s textile production and employs over two million people in this sector.
