Uttar Pradesh seeks to enhance mining sector investment
Lucknow: The department of geology and mining held a workshop on Friday to explore opportunities in Uttar Pradesh's mining and mineral sector. Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh spoke at the event and highlighted the importance of mining for the state's economic growth. Singh noted that Uttar Pradesh has significant potential in its mineral resources. He announced the launch of an online tender process for the auction of two iron ore blocks and one limestone block in Sonbhadra district. Singh also mentioned that the area has abundant granite and called for efforts to increase its extraction. To attract more investment, Singh suggested that the state should simplify its policies. He emphasized the need to follow guidelines set by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and the ministry of environment. During the workshop, various representatives from organizations, including the Geological Survey of India, shared insights on mineral exploration in the state. Mala Shrivastava, secretary and director of geology and mining, welcomed attendees and encouraged exploration agencies to engage in activities related to key minerals in Uttar Pradesh.
