Uttar Pradesh students wrote song lyrics in exams
During the evaluation of the UP Board exams, teachers are finding surprising and unusual responses in student answer sheets. Students have submitted everything from Bollywood song lyrics to personal love stories instead of academic answers. The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) held the Class 10 and Class 12 exams from February 24 to March 12, 2025, with over 3 million students participating. Results are expected to be announced in April on the official website. One teacher reported an unexpected experience while grading a Class 10 Science paper. Instead of scientific answers, the teacher found pages filled with lyrics from popular songs like “Jaadoo Hai, Nasha Hai” and “Tu Kitni Achhi Hai.” This trend appeared in several answer sheets from eastern Uttar Pradesh, suggesting students might have opted for creative expression under exam stress. In another case, a student used their answer sheet to tell a love story instead of answering questions. Examiners were surprised, but the student received no credit for their narrative. Others have made emotional pleas for passing marks, including one girl who wrote, "Dear Sir, please pass me, I will always be a maid at your feet." Some students even attempted to bribe examiners by placing money between the pages of their answer sheets. Such actions will not be tolerated in the evaluation process, which is under close monitoring. The UPMSP will announce the result date soon. Students can find out their scores online at upmsp.edu.in once results are posted in April.
