UW-Madison risks federal funding over Jewish student protections
The University of Wisconsin-Madison is among 60 schools warned by the U.S. Department of Education about possible federal funding loss if they do not protect Jewish students. This follows Columbia University losing $400 million in funding over antisemitism claims. The Department of Education's Secretary expressed disappointment over the safety concerns for Jewish students on campuses. UW-Madison is already under investigation for alleged anti-Jewish bias, with a case still open as of January. In response to recent protests, UW-Madison has implemented new policies regarding expressive activities and political advocacy. The university continues to cooperate with the Department of Education's inquiries.
