VACB arrests police officers for accepting bribe in Kerala
The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) has arrested a police officer and his associate for accepting a bribe. The incident took place on Monday night in Thodupuzha. The officer, Sub-Inspector Pradeep Jose, and his friend Rasheed, were caught after they demanded ₹10,000 to quash an arrest warrant against a woman involved in a cheque case. The warrant had been issued by the Thodupuzha Judicial First Class Magistrate Court-2. To collect the bribe, Mr. Jose asked Rasheed to receive the money through Google Pay. This raised suspicion, and a friend of the woman’s husband reported it to the VACB. The VACB then monitored the situation. On Monday night, Rasheed received the money, and both he and the police officer were arrested shortly after. They were presented before the Muvattupuzha vigilance court the following day.
