Vadodara inspector arrested for ₹40,000 bribe
In Vadodara, an inspector from the provident fund office was arrested for taking a bribe. The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) caught Binodkumar Sharma on Monday while he was receiving Rs 40,000. Sharma, who works as an enforcement officer, was accused of demanding money from a complainant. The complainant runs a facilities management business and had been paying his employees' provident fund contributions online. Sharma contacted the complainant and requested documents via email. When the complainant went to meet him, Sharma claimed that the deadline for submitting the documents had already passed. He then asked for Rs 50,000 to avoid any legal action. After some negotiations, the amount was reduced to Rs 40,000. The complainant decided to report Sharma to the ACB. The bureau then set up a trap to catch Sharma in the act of accepting the bribe.
