Valeri Nichushkin set to return for Avalanche against Capitals after suspension

Colorado Avalanche forward Valeri Nichushkin will make his season debut against the Washington Capitals after being suspended for six months. He recently returned from the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program, where he was placed due to personal issues. Nichushkin's suspension began during the playoffs last season, marking the second consecutive postseason he was unavailable. The Avalanche, currently 9-8, are also welcoming back players Jonathan Drouin and Miles Wood, while still missing Ross Colton and captain Gabriel Landeskog. Landeskog has been out since May 2023 due to a knee injury but participated in practice on Friday. His return date remains uncertain, but his presence at practice is seen as a positive sign for the team.
