Verstappen striving to improve Red Bull's performance

After the 2025 Chinese Grand Prix, Red Bull Racing is now facing a challenge. They are currently behind McLaren in the standings. Team principal Christian Horner stated that the team is focused on the ongoing season, despite the upcoming 2026 regulations. Horner insists it is too early to worry about next year. After just two races, they are only 8 points behind in the drivers' championship. He believes there is still a lot of competition left in the season. Last year's performance taught Red Bull that the start is important, but the finish matters more. Horner mentioned that the team has the resources and talent to improve their performance. They need to analyze data to figure out where they can find more speed. Red Bull is also working with Ford to develop a new power unit in light of the significant changes in Formula 1. Max Verstappen has shown some potential by finishing third in the sprint race and fourth in the Grand Prix, but his teammate, Liam Lawson, is struggling. Lawson described the car's performance as challenging to handle. Horner noted that Verstappen is putting in extra effort and is working closely with engineers to identify the car's issues. With McLaren currently ahead, Red Bull is eager to make upgrades during the season. Horner has acknowledged that development will be a continuous process as they seek to improve their standing.
