Vietnam faces rising measles cases and deaths in 2025
Vietnam has reported nearly 40,000 suspected measles cases and five related deaths in 2025. The Ministry of Health anticipates a continued rise, particularly in high-risk areas with low vaccination rates. A national conference on measles prevention was held on March 15, where officials discussed the impact of climate change on the epidemic. The southern region has the highest case count, with children aged nine months to 15 years most affected. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has instructed localities to accelerate measles vaccinations, aiming for completion by the end of March. The health sector is tasked with ensuring vaccine availability and coordinating efforts to improve community awareness and vaccination rates.
