Vigil held for pedestrian killed in Letterkenny crash
A vigil took place in Letterkenny, County Donegal, for a man in his 60s who died in a car crash early Monday morning. The tragic incident occurred around 3:00 AM when a teenage driver hit two pedestrians on Lower Main Street. The driver, who is in his late teens, was arrested and is currently in custody. The second pedestrian, also a man in his 60s, has serious injuries and is in the hospital. Local Mayor Gerry McMonagle described the event as an “awful shock” for the community. About 200 people attended the vigil at the crash site on Monday evening to pay their respects. In light of the incident, the St Patrick's Day parade in Letterkenny has been cancelled, reflecting the somber mood in the town. The case has been referred to the Garda Ombudsman for further investigation.
