Vijay to launch statewide tour in Tamil Nadu ahead of 2026 elections

Tamil star Vijay, founder of the Tamilaga Vettri Katchi (TVK), will begin a statewide tour in Tamil Nadu from December 2 to 27. The tour starts in Coimbatore and ends with a rally in Tirunelveli, aiming to engage the public ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. Vijay's party plans to contest all 231 Assembly seats but will not participate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He will soon appoint district leaders and recognize key organizers from a recent rally that attracted over 300,000 attendees. Veteran actor Rajinikanth praised Vijay's political debut, calling his first rally well-organized. Vijay's entry into politics marks a significant moment, as he is the first major Tamil film star to do so since M.G. Ramachandran.
