Viktor & Rolf's exhibition opens in Atlanta this fall
Viktor & Rolf, the famous European fashion designers, will showcase their work in a major exhibition in the U.S. for the first time this fall. The exhibition, titled "Viktor & Rolf. Fashion Statements," will open at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta on October 10. It follows a successful launch in Munich last year. This exhibition will feature over 100 unique designs from the Dutch duo, known for their innovative approach to haute couture. Curator Thierry-Maxime Loriot has structured the exhibition into nine chapters, focusing on different themes such as “Fashion Artists” and “Performing Fashion.” There will also be new commissioned pieces that have not yet been revealed. Visitors can expect to see more than just the finished garments. The exhibition will include "works-in-progress dolls" dressed in miniature versions of their designs. Animated projections will add visual interest, with special effects provided by Rodeo FX, known for their work on popular series and films. Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren, the creative minds behind the brand, aim to inspire viewers with their art. They believe that fashion can evoke emotions and challenge perceptions. This exhibition is not sponsored by their brand, which adds to its artistic focus. Horsting expressed excitement at bringing their work to a new audience in the U.S. They hope to share their stories through the exhibition, highlighting craftsmanship and attention to detail that often gets lost in runway shows. According to Loriot, the show represents true artistry, distinguishing itself from brand-sponsored events that prioritize marketing over creative expression. The exhibition will also include almost ten new looks and artworks from other artists. Loriot appreciates Viktor & Rolf's sense of humor and openness to ideas, which he says is rare in the fashion industry. He believes that creativity comes from being inspired by various sources, and this exhibition will reflect their ability to turn ideas into stunning designs.
