Villagers seek action against landgrab in Thanjavur

Residents of Seiyamangalam village in Thanjavur district have raised concerns about a land dispute. They submitted a complaint to the district administration on Monday. The villagers claim that someone has wrongfully taken over a piece of land, which they have used for their temple festival. The land in question is about 41 cents. Villagers say they have used it for years to host celebrations. However, when a group tried to clean the area for this year's festival, they were stopped by a man who claimed it was his private property. The villagers checked official records and found that the land is registered in the name of this individual. They say the family that originally donated the land for public use was unaware of the sale. Outraged, the villagers have asked the authorities to investigate the land transaction and help restore their right to use the area for their festival.
