Virat Kohli to play 400th T20 match soon

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is set to begin on March 22 with a match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. This match will be special for Virat Kohli, as it marks his 400th T20 match. Kohli will join an exclusive group of Indian players, becoming only the third to reach 400 T20 appearances. The other two are Rohit Sharma, who has played 448 T20s, and Dinesh Karthik, with 412 appearances. Kohli currently stands at 399 matches played. In his T20 career, Kohli has scored 12,886 runs, including nine centuries and 97 fifties. He is also looking to reach 13,000 runs in T20 cricket. To achieve this milestone, he needs to score 114 runs in the upcoming match. Kohli’s record is impressive, but the all-time leader in T20 matches is Kieron Pollard, who has played 695 games since his debut in 2006. Kohli will also have a chance to become the third player to score over 1,000 runs against KKR if he scores at least 38 runs in the match. Brendon McCullum is the only player to have scored a century in the first match of an IPL season, achieving this in 2008. Kohli aims to join that elite list, making the opening match even more significant for him and his fans.
