Virgin Media discontinues TV 360 Mini box
Virgin Media is discontinuing its popular TV 360 Mini box and replacing it with a new internet-powered device called the Stream box. The change has been happening since late 2024 but was not widely announced. The TV 360 Mini was designed for multi-room setups and was launched in 2020. While the Mini box will still operate and provide regular channels and premium content, Virgin Media will stop distributing this device to new customers. Instead, anyone wanting a Virgin Media TV in another room will receive a Stream box. Many customers are still using older devices, such as the TV V6 box from 2016 and the original TiVO box from 2011. These legacy devices will continue to function as usual, but they will not have the latest features found in newer models like the Stream. The Stream box, introduced in 2022, streams TV over Wi-Fi rather than using cables. This allows households to have up to six boxes, which is four more than the previous limit. Additionally, the Stream boxes are easier to set up, requiring just a power outlet and an HDMI connection to the TV. In October 2024, Virgin Media updated its Stream services to be compatible with TV 360 boxes. However, this came with a new monthly fee for the basic service, which was previously included with broadband subscriptions. Soon, Virgin Media will allow TV 360 customers to use Stream boxes as part of their multi-room setup.
