Virtual Reality testing improves glaucoma monitoring but has drawbacks
Virtual Reality Visual Field Testing (VRVFT) is emerging as a new method for monitoring glaucoma, offering benefits like improved accessibility and patient comfort. It allows for at-home testing and can accommodate patients with mobility issues, unlike traditional automated perimetry tools. However, VRVFT has limitations, including less precision in some tests and challenges with patient familiarity and technology access. Current systems may also lack advanced features like eye-tracking, which can affect test reliability. To enhance VRVFT's effectiveness, further research is needed to compare it with standard methods and improve its technology. Developing standardized protocols and increasing access to VR tools will be important for its adoption in clinical practice.
