Vito the Pug becomes first of its breed to win Best in Show at National Dog Show

Vito the Pug made history at the 2024 National Dog Show by becoming the first pug to win Best in Show since the event began airing in 2002. The 2-and-a-half-year-old pug triumphed over about 2,000 dogs from 205 breeds. Vito, from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, has participated in over 75 dog shows, winning 25 Best in Show titles. He is currently the top-ranked pug and the second-ranked toy dog in the U.S. The National Dog Show, held annually since 1933, aired on NBC after the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. This year, the event featured hosts John O'Hurley, Mary Carillo, and David Frei.
