Vivekananda demands timely funding for Hyderabad projects
BRS MLA KP Vivekananda called for the timely release of funds for Hyderabad's development projects. He stressed that funds must be available for actual projects, not just allocated on paper. In the previous budget, the government allocated Rs 10,000 crore, but only 25% was actually released for municipal work. During a debate in the state assembly, Vivekananda pointed out that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) received Rs 2,652 crore, but only Rs 1,200 crore was disbursed. He also mentioned that the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) received Rs 500 crore instead of the allocated Rs 2,000 crore. Funds for projects like the Musi rejuvenation, metro rail Phase 2, and two elevated corridors were significantly lower than expected. The MLA expressed concerns about the slow progress on important projects. He noted that while metro rail works in Future City are moving quickly, surveys in the northern part of the city are still incomplete. He highlighted the struggles of the real estate sector, which has been in decline for the past year. Vivekananda criticized the government's financial management. He pointed out contradictions in claims about funds received, specifically regarding a reported Rs 2 lakh crore received in Davos. He urged the government to address issues in GHMC areas, where many streetlights are not working due to unpaid bills and malfunctioning CCTV cameras. He also asked the government to process Layout Regularisation Scheme applications without collecting fees, as promised during elections.
