A local council member from the Communist Party of India (Marxist), B. Ganga Rao, has asked Vizag's Mayor G. Hari Venkata Kumari to hold a meeting about the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) budget. Ganga Rao submitted his request on Wednesday. He pointed out that the Andhra Pradesh Municipal Corporation Act requires the GVMC to meet and approve its budget by March. However, he noted that no arrangements have been made for this meeting, which is concerning. Ganga Rao suggested that the central government might be pressuring local officials to delay the budget meeting for political reasons. The CPI(M) leader also raised questions about how the GVMC will manage employee salaries and other financial matters if the budget is not approved before the end of March. Another local council member, P.L.V.N. Murthy from the Jana Sena Party, criticized officials for their negligence in organizing the budget meeting for the upcoming financial year.
