Vizhinjam port to start cargo operations in April

timesofindia.indiatimes.com

Vizhinjam International Seaport is set to begin gateway cargo operations in April, with hopes to start roadway traffic before April 15. Currently, the port only handles transshipment operations. Construction of a 1.7-km road connecting the port to NH 66 is nearing completion, with only 600 meters left to finish. A customs building and scanner have also been installed near the port. While container trucks can access NH 66 via service roads, a permanent connection is still pending approval from the National Highways Authority of India. The project aims to improve traffic flow and connectivity to the outer ring road.
