Volcanic eruptions in Indonesia leave at least 10 dead and destroy homes
At least 10 people have died following volcanic eruptions at Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki on Indonesia's Flores Island. The eruptions, which began on Monday night, sent ash 2 kilometers into the air and destroyed homes, including a convent.
Rescue efforts are ongoing as authorities search for more victims buried under collapsed buildings. The national disaster management agency reported that around 10,000 people have been affected, with many seeking shelter with relatives or in local schools.
The volcano's alert status has been raised to the highest level, and the exclusion zone has expanded to a 4.3-mile radius. This eruption differs from a previous one in January, which did not result in casualties but led to significant evacuations.
