Von der Leyen pledges ambitious plans for second term

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen pledges to build a European Defence Union, double Europol staff, create a European Savings and Investments Union, establish a European Competitiveness Fund, reform competition policy, propose a Clean Deal Industrial Deal, set a 90% emissions cut target by 2040, triple Border and Coast Guards, and appoint commissioners for defence, migration, housing, and enlargement.
