Voters in 10 states decide abortion rights measures in 2024 election
In the 2024 election, voters in 10 states, including Missouri and Florida, decided on abortion rights measures. Seven states passed initiatives to protect or expand access to abortion, while three states saw measures fail. Arizona's Proposition 139 will overturn a 15-week abortion ban, while Colorado enshrined abortion rights in its constitution. Missouri's Amendment 3 protects access up to fetal viability, reversing a near-total ban. Montana and Nevada also secured abortion rights through new measures. However, Florida, South Dakota, and Nebraska saw abortion-related measures fail. Florida's proposed amendment to establish a constitutional right to abortion did not meet the required 60% support. South Dakota's six-week ban remains in place, and Nebraska's measure to limit access was adopted.
