Voters in nine states decide on abortion rights measures in key ballot tests
Voters in nine states are deciding on ballot measures to guarantee abortion rights in their state constitutions. This follows a trend where abortion rights advocates have won all seven measures since 2022, after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.
If passed, measures in Arizona, Florida, Missouri, Nebraska, and South Dakota could reverse existing bans affecting over 7 million women. In Florida, supporters need at least 60% of the vote, while Nebraska has competing measures regarding abortion limits.
Other states like Colorado and Maryland aim to enshrine current abortion access laws in their constitutions. Nevada's measure requires approval this year and again in 2026 to take effect. New York's proposal seeks to prevent discrimination based on pregnancy outcomes.
