Voters in nine states weigh in on abortion rights in key election measures
Voters in nine states are deciding on abortion rights in the upcoming election. Measures in Arizona, Florida, Missouri, Nebraska, and South Dakota could guarantee abortion access, potentially reversing current bans affecting over 7 million women.
Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022, abortion rights advocates have won all seven measures on ballots. This year, they have a fundraising advantage, while opponents focus on portraying the amendments as extreme.
In Florida, supporters need at least 60% of the vote to pass their measure. Nebraska has competing measures, and in South Dakota, some regulations would remain. Other states, like Colorado and Maryland, aim to enshrine existing policies in their constitutions.
