Voters in seven U.S. states make significant strides for abortion rights in recent elections
Voters in seven U.S. states made significant decisions regarding abortion rights in recent elections. Missouri voters approved an amendment to potentially reverse one of the strictest abortion bans, while Arizona, Colorado, Maryland, and Montana also passed measures to protect abortion access.
In contrast, Florida, Nebraska, and South Dakota saw defeats for abortion rights amendments, maintaining existing restrictions. Florida's measure failed to meet the required support, despite a majority of voters favoring it.
The results reflect a shift in the abortion landscape since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022. Currently, 13 states enforce total abortion bans, while others have varying restrictions.
