Warangal airport expansion approved by the Union Government
The Union Government has approved a no objection certificate (NOC) for the expansion of Mamnoor Airport in Warangal, Telangana. This decision allows development near Hyderabad International Airport, lifting a previous exclusivity clause that restricted new airport projects within 150 km. The NOC specifically applies to Mamnoor Airport and does not impact future projects in the exclusivity zone. The state has begun land acquisition for the airport, allocating ₹205 crores for 280.30 acres to accommodate larger aircraft. Minister Ram Mohan Naidu emphasized the potential of Warangal as a regional hub, aiming to enhance trade, tourism, and local employment. The project aligns with the UDAN scheme and state support for improved air connectivity in the region.
