Watchman killed by lifter machine in Uran shipping yard

A 64-year-old watchman died after being crushed by a lifter machine in Uran. The accident happened late Wednesday night at a freight container yard. The lifter was operated by a 24-year-old man who did not see the watchman. The deceased was identified as Eknath Ragho Patil. He was on duty when the operator, Mohammad Aslam Jaish Mohammad Khan, was moving containers. Poor visibility and a lack of attention led to the tragic incident. The investigating officer said the area was dark. The operator was responsible for ensuring safety but failed to do so. As a result, Patil was run over and suffered serious injuries to his head and body. Authorities have filed a case against Khan. He faces charges of death by negligence and recklessly endangering human life under Indian law. A legal notice has been issued to him following the accident.
