Water Mission Palakkad 2030 launched to improve water availability
The Friends of Bharathapuzha (FoB) are launching a new project called Water Mission Palakkad 2030. This initiative follows a water conference held last year at Ahalia campus. The project will be inaugurated on Saturday, coinciding with World Water Day celebrations. District Collector G. Priyanka will lead the opening ceremony. E. Sreedharan, a renowned technocrat, will serve as the project's director. The aim is to improve water availability in Palakkad district over the next five years through community efforts and collaboration with government agencies. Project coordinator Vinod Nambiar emphasized the need for solutions to the water scarcity issues that often arise from December to April. The mission intends to restore traditional water sources like ponds and increase groundwater levels. Nambiar noted that Palakkad's groundwater is significantly lower than in other districts in the state, necessitating immediate action.
