Weight-loss injections may reduce risk of health issues, study finds
A new study suggests that weight-loss injections, like Wegovy and Ozempic, may lower the risk of various health issues, including stroke and dementia. The research analyzed data from 2.4 million participants and found benefits beyond weight loss. Participants using these drugs had a reduced risk of 42 health conditions compared to those on other diabetes medications. However, the study also noted an increased risk of 19 health issues, such as gastrointestinal symptoms and low blood pressure. The study, published in Nature Medicine, is observational and does not prove causation. Researchers call for further studies with more diverse groups to confirm these findings.
