Wembanyama's rare card sells for $528k
Victor Wembanyama's rare trading card has sold for a remarkable $528,000. The card, a 2023 Panini National Treasures Logoman 1/1, was sold in Fanatics Collect's March Premier Auction on Thursday night. This sale marks the second-highest amount ever paid for a Wembanyama card at public auction. The only card that sold for more was a 2023 Panini Prizm Nebula Choice 1/1, which went for $860,100 in February. Logoman cards are highly sought after, especially for modern players. For instance, Luka Dončić’s Logoman card sold for $4.6 million in March 2021, but it was autographed and featured player-worn material. The Wembanyama Logoman card does not have an autograph. It even carries a note on the back stating that the material included is not linked to any specific player, game, or event. Interestingly, many of Wembanyama's top-selling cards have also been without autographs. Panini America has exclusive rights to use NBA team names and logos, which affects the types of cards released. Currently, Wembanyama has an exclusive autograph deal with Fanatics, leading to his licensed cards lacking signatures up to this point.
