West Ham targets Sunderland's £20m-rated teenager Chris Rigg
West Ham United is interested in signing 17-year-old Chris Rigg from Sunderland. Reports suggest that West Ham will make a move if Sunderland fails to gain promotion to the Premier League this season. Rigg has made an impressive start to his career at Sunderland. In just 61 appearances, he has scored seven goals and provided one assist. His performance has caught the attention of several top clubs, including West Ham. West Ham's interest hinges on Sunderland’s promotion aspirations. Rigg hopes to help his team achieve a play-off spot in the Championship. If Sunderland does not succeed in moving up to the Premier League, Rigg may seek opportunities elsewhere. Sunderland is reportedly asking for around £20 million for Rigg, a price similar to what they received for Jack Clarke last summer. However, West Ham might only be willing to pay about £10 million. Rigg has also represented England at youth levels, earning 36 caps and scoring five goals. He debuted for Sunderland at just 15 years old and has become a key player on their squad. If Sunderland does not earn promotion, Rigg may feel pressure to move to a top-flight team.
