Westmoreland hosts spring events, including concerts and fairs
Spring has begun, and while the weather may still be chilly, there are many exciting events happening in Westmoreland this weekend. Here are five activities to check out from March 21-23. On Saturday, young pianist Maxim Lando will perform with the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra. Lando will play Saint-Saëns’ “Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor.” The concert will also feature pieces by Nico Muhly and Beethoven. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. at The Palace Theatre in Greensburg. Tickets are priced between $20 and $75. Also on Saturday, the “Hempfield Cares” Health and Sports Fair will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. at Hempfield Park. This free event offers health screenings, fitness demonstrations, and the chance to meet local health professionals. Attendees can win door prizes, including tickets to local sporting events. Fans of Bob Seger can enjoy “Hollywood Nights: The Bob Seger Experience,” a tribute band performing on Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 6 p.m. at the Lamp Theatre in Irwin. Tickets are $44, and the band will cover classic hits from Seger’s career. The Greensburg Art Center will hold the opening reception for its 2025 biennial art exhibit this Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. This exhibition features works by local artists and will run until May 2. Lastly, on Sunday at 4 p.m., “Rhythm of the Dance” will showcase Irish dance and culture at The Palace Theatre. This family-friendly show combines dance, music, and stunning visuals. Tickets range from $38 to $68. Whether you enjoy music, art, or health activities, Westmoreland has something for everyone this weekend.
