A group of fifth-year students from Coláiste Bride Enniscorthy has won the award for 'Best Financial Management Tool' for their new money-saving app aimed at young people. The award was granted during the launch event for Global Money Week, which promotes financial awareness among youth. The students, supported by their Maths teacher Josh Martin, created the app called 'Money Smart Services' with funding of €1,000 from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission. This app includes a savings tracker and provides information on various money topics, such as currency exchange, tax, insurance, and sustainability. According to Mr. Martin, the students worked hard since November. They researched the financial concerns of young people during their lunch breaks and designed an app that would be suitable for teenagers. Although the app launched just last month, it has already received recognition for its innovative approach. During the award presentation, the students shared their experiences in developing the app. A representative from their school expressed pride in the students' accomplishments, saying, “All your hard work paid off.” The app is available on the iOS App Store and will soon be on the Google Play Store.
