White House pressures Columbia University over deportation efforts
The White House is pressuring Columbia University to assist in locating pro-Palestinian activists sought for deportation. This follows the arrest of Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian activist, who is now facing possible deportation. Columbia has lost $400 million in federal funding due to accusations of failing to address antisemitism on campus. Immigration agents have also attempted to arrest another student linked to the protests. Khalil, who has not been charged with a crime, is being held in Louisiana. A federal judge has ordered a hearing and temporarily halted his deportation. His wife is advocating for his release as they expect their first child.
