WHO and Africa CDC launch $600 million mpox response plan

The Africa CDC and WHO launched a $600 million response plan for mpox outbreaks in Africa, following WHO's global emergency declaration affecting 12 countries. Since January 2024, there have been 5,549 confirmed cases and 643 deaths, primarily in Congo. The plan emphasizes surveillance and community engagement, with 200,000 JYNNEOS vaccine doses recently delivered to Congo, amid a need for three million doses to control the outbreak.
